Drawbridge Design Final - Winter 2013

Final project for SE120: Design and construct a working model drawbridge for the city of New Orleans.

“Inspired by the wrought iron gates that frequent both residential and commercial landscape of New Orleans, the design of the ‘Beignet Bridge’ incorporates both steel and Hydrostone in its structure since a bridge made out of those world famous Beignets would not last long.”

Based off my initial design: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gcqutycn8ka8dsl/Final%20-%20Team%206%20-%20Initial%20Design%20Check.pdf

The Girls

Daphne
Obviously based on Daphne Guinness, who I think is drop-dead gorgeous (I love her hair..and shoes). Wanted something new to send to Visual Stimulus Package IV, hosted by Apama Mackey Gallery in Houston, TX.
Apologies for phone-quality photo.

Contrast Bat
Companion to my other Batman piece. The two are going to be hanging together. That’s funny because bats hang.

Fly Girl
An early Christmas present for a friend from Philadelphia. Inspired by R.Kullman’s work (who I am a huge fan of). I actually had to go buy a new orange marker for this one. It was a huge moral struggle for me, not to mention The Wings lost to Nashville the night I finished this. Should have taken that missing marker as a sign.

Batman
Requested piece. And the first to go on a wall that I know of.
Based off of the Batman Black and White anthology (my favorite story was Two of a Kind). I really like working with just black and white.
